Without
doubt women's over knee
boots are the hottest trend in footwear this season. But don't think that
this fashion trend is limited to the catwalks of Paris and Milan. Any girl can pull off the over the knee
boot look as long as they know what to wear with these stunning fashion accessories. But there is a fine line
between looking classy and looking like a fashion disaster so, after doing some research, we have put together a
few basic tips.
Firstly, a fashion boot qualifies as over the
knee as long as it sits no more than 4 inches above knee level. Any higher and you have a thigh-high boot which is
a different category altogether and a much more difficult look to get right. The focus here should be on the boots
themselves so it is crucial that whatever you wear on top is loose and flowing rather than tight and figure
hugging. With this in mind, team your overknee boots with loose dresses or skirts or a tunic
that falls approximately 1-3 inches above the top of your boots. A boyfriend jacket over the top also works
with this look but avoid leather on leather or suede on suede - always go with a contrasting fabric.
Underneath, go for tights or leggings in a color that doesn't compete with the above knee boots.
Skinny jeans of course work extremely well with this type of boot.
Are over the knee boots right for
you?
If you are wondering if you are a little on the
short side to successfully wear boots that sit on or above the knee then be re-assured that you probably are not.
Only you will truly know once you look at yourself in the mirror but basically if you know how to wear the boots
properly and accessorise them correctly then height shouldn't be a factor. Go for leggings or tights that match the
color of your boots to elongate your legs. Avoid the extremely high stiletto heels though or you may channel into
the 'hooker' effect. (Not a look anyone should be going for!) Thicker heels or wedges might be a safer
option.
Wide range of styles
available.
Over the knee boots are like most
other women's boots with options including leather or suede, flat heels or higher, fringes, buckles,
plain look or studded, the list goes on. The most popular color is definitely black but you can also find them
in red, grey, brown, beige and even purple. Some boots come with a wide panel at the top that can be turned over
for a cuffed below the knee look - extremely versatile.
Above the knee boots are relatively new to
the fashion scene but look like being here to stay. They are sure to be a welcome addition to your wardrobe and can
be purchased online from suppliers
worldwide.
